Controversial disc jockey and TikTok personality Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after being arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, over alleged threats against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The Lagos State Government charged DJ Chicken on a three-count charge bordering on threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and offences under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The charges stem from a viral video in which he allegedly threatened to kill Seyi Tinubu if President Tinubu won re-election in 2027. Although he later retracted the statement, claiming it was a joke intended to attract attention, prosecutors proceeded with the case. DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Magistrate M.F. Onamusi granted him ₦1 million bail with two sureties but ordered that he remain in custody until the bail conditions are fulfilled. The case has been adjourned to August 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, expressed optimism that the bail conditions would be perfected, while activist Omoyele Sowore has publicly offered to support efforts to secure his release, arguing that the charges are excessive.
