Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has escalated his long-running feud with fellow artist Odumodublvck by filing a ₦2 billion defamation claim, accusing him of making false and damaging allegations that have harmed his reputation.
The legal action stems from statements made by Odumodublvck on June 29, in which he publicly referred to Blaqbonez as a “sexual abuser” while referencing an earlier cyberstalking petition filed by a woman identified as “Jane Doe.” That matter was reportedly resolved without any criminal conviction against Blaqbonez, who has consistently denied the allegations.
According to court documents and a pre-action notice issued by Blaqbonez’s legal team, the rapper is seeking ₦2 billion in general damages for alleged defamation, harassment, threats, assault and reputational harm. The notice also demands that Odumodublvck delete the disputed social media posts and publish a public apology pinned to his platforms for 30 days.
Odumodublvck has shown little sign of backing down. Reacting online after news of the legal action emerged, the rapper appeared to dismiss the lawsuit, laughing off the claims and maintaining his earlier position. His response has further fuelled the rivalry between the two artists, which has already included diss tracks, social media exchanges and reports of an alleged backstage confrontation.
As of now, the dispute remains in its early legal stages, with no court judgment delivered. The case has sparked widespread debate among fans, with some calling for the matter to be settled in court, while others hope the artists will eventually resolve their differences outside the legal system.
The latest development marks one of the most high-profile legal disputes in Nigeria’s music industry this year, highlighting the growing consequences of public accusations made on social media.
