Afrobeats continues to make a strong global statement as Nigerian music stars dominate the 2026 BET Awards nominations ahead of the June 28 ceremony in Los Angeles.
Leading the African nominees is Grammy-winning singer Tems, who earned three major nominations. The singer received recognition in categories including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her Award, and Viewers’ Choice for her collaboration “Raindance” with British rapper Dave.
Afrobeats heavyweight Wizkid and singer Asake also secured a joint nomination in the Best Group category following their successful collaborations and growing influence on the international music scene.
Burna Boy earned a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for his work on “WGFT” with American rapper Gunna, adding another major recognition to his global career.
