Manchester City are celebrating Ayyoub Bouaddi’s 19th birthday as the Moroccan midfielder begins what could become the biggest chapter of his young career. Born on October 2, 2007, in Senlis, France, Bouaddi joined City from Lille in August 2026 on a five-year contract and wears the number 32 shirt.
The birthday comes less than two months after Manchester City completed the reported €95 million move. But while fans are already excited about what the teenager could become at the Etihad, his strongest achievements so far came before arriving in England.
Bouaddi’s Lille Numbers Tell the Story
Bouaddi made his senior debut for Lille just three days after his 16th birthday in October 2023. He went on to establish himself as a regular midfielder and finished his Lille spell with 96 appearances, according to Manchester City. His season-by-season record included 18 appearances in 2023/24, 36 in 2024/25 and 42 in 2025/26.
His final full season in France showed why City were willing to invest heavily. Bouaddi played 30 Ligue 1 matches in 2025/26, starting 28 of them and playing more than 2,300 minutes. He recorded one assist, while his passing and defensive work made him an important part of Lille’s midfield.
He also helped Lille finish third in Ligue 1 and return to the Champions League, another significant achievement before his move to Manchester.
Morocco World Cup Breakthrough
Bouaddi’s biggest international moment came at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. After representing France at youth level, he chose Morocco through his family background and quickly became an important player for the Atlas Lions.
His World Cup campaign attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Against Brazil, he completed 91% of his passes, completed all 16 of his passes in the final third, recovered the ball six times and made five interceptions. Morocco eventually reached the quarter-finals.
That tournament helped establish Bouaddi as one of the young midfielders attracting global attention.
What Comes Next at Manchester City?
The transition to England is still in its early stages. Current Premier League records show Bouaddi has made two appearances for City, totaling 22 minutes, without a goal or assist.
That means his 19th birthday is less about celebrating a finished product and more about marking the next stage of a rapidly developing career. City have already invested heavily in his potential, and the coming months will show how quickly his Lille and Morocco experience translates to regular football at the Etihad.
For now, Bouaddi’s record is already unusual for a player who has only just turned 19: senior football from age 16, 96 appearances for Lille, a major World Cup campaign with Morocco and a reported €95 million move to Manchester City.
