Nigerian security forces have recorded fresh successes in ongoing operations against bandit and terrorist networks in the Northwest, rescuing kidnapped victims and disrupting planned attacks across Kaduna and Zamfara states.
The operations were carried out under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, with troops from the Joint Task Force North West responding to intelligence reports and distress calls from affected communities.
In Kaduna State, troops rescued three kidnap victims who had spent more than a month in captivity after being abducted from Kajenjere Tami Village. The victims were reportedly found after troops moved against criminal elements operating around the area and were taken for medical attention before being reunited with their families.
In Zamfara State, troops and other security agencies also foiled a planned attack on Gamdanda Village in Gummi Local Government Area. According to reports, the operation forced the attackers to retreat after troops engaged them during an ambush.
Security forces also recovered items linked to criminal operations and arrested suspects believed to be connected to bandit networks.
The victories came at a cost, as clashes during the operations reportedly resulted in the deaths of three soldiers and one civilian.
The latest operations come amid continued concerns over insecurity in northern Nigeria, where bandit groups have carried out kidnappings, attacks on communities, and assaults on security personnel.
While the rescues have brought relief to affected families and communities, residents continue to call for sustained action to prevent criminals from regrouping and returning to vulnerable areas.
The military has pledged to continue intelligence-led operations aimed at restoring security and protecting civilians across the region.
