Former Kogi West Senator and prominent opposition figure Dino Melaye has launched another blistering attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as the ‘most anti-democratic leader’ in Nigeria’s recent history amid growing political tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Melaye made the remarks while criticizing the state of Nigeria’s democracy and what he described as increasing efforts to weaken opposition voices. The former lawmaker accused the Tinubu administration of failing to uphold democratic principles and creating an environment that discourages political competition.
Speaking at a public event in Abuja and in subsequent media appearances, Melaya argued that recent political developments suggest a deliberate attempt to consolidate power rather than strengthen democratic institutions.
