NBA YoungBoy is talking like an artist who is already preparing for the final chapter of his career.
In a newly released conversation with comedian Funny Marco, the rapper said he does not intend to move back to the United States, describing his current life in South Korea as a permanent change. When asked how many albums he has left, he answered “one or two”, and said he plans to go on tour one more time before retiring from music.
That is a striking statement from an artist whose career has been defined by constant output. YoungBoy has released music at an extraordinary pace, and even earlier this year he was still discussing future projects and touring. His 2026 album Slime Cry was followed by plans for another tour, making this sudden talk of an eventual retirement feel like a significant change in direction.
But the retirement announcement may not actually be the most interesting part. YoungBoy appears to be rethinking what life after fame should look like.
He has spent years dealing with legal restrictions, incarceration and house arrest. Now that he has greater freedom to travel, he has been spending time outside America, including in China, Norway, Belgium, France and South Korea. He told Funny Marco that being away from the environment he grew up in has changed his perspective.
South Korea could therefore represent more than a temporary escape.YoungBoy has already begun establishing connections there, including involvement with a Korean-developed fan platform. That suggests his move may eventually become part personal relocation, part business expansion and part reinvention.
His comments about his mother also reveal that the transition is personal. YoungBoy said he loves her but has chosen to keep his distance, while his mother’s response has opened another conversation about their relationship and his involvement with his children. Those family issues are obviously more complicated than what can be established from a short interview clip.
And there is one reason fans should not treat the retirement announcement as a guaranteed goodbye just yet. Artists have announced their “last album” before and returned.
For now, however, YoungBoy is presenting this as a genuine plan: leave America behind, make a final handful of records, tour once more and then step away. If he follows through, the story will not simply be about a rapper retiring at 26.
It will be about an artist who spent much of his young life trapped by circumstances finally getting the freedom to decide where he wants to live and what he wants his life to become.
