Tonto Dikeh is entering a very different chapter of her public life. The Nollywood actress and evangelist has unveiled New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle (NWPT), an interdenominational spiritual movement in Abuja focused on prayer, revival, spiritual training and what she describes as genuine transformation. The fellowship will hold every Friday at 6pm at Omni Grand Hotel in Jabi, Abuja.
But the significance of the announcement goes beyond the launch of another Christian gathering. For years, Dikeh has been known primarily for her acting career, highly public personal life and, later, her involvement in politics.
Her recent transformation has increasingly moved her public identity towards Christianity. Premium Times reports that she has become increasingly vocal about her faith, including participating in deliverance sessions and speaking publicly about her spiritual experiences.
In December 2025, Dikeh also publicly described a personal testimony of being delivered from smoking, alcohol addiction, masturbation and prolonged anger, saying she had started smoking at the age of 13.
Now, she is moving from talking about her faith to building an institution around it. That could make NWPT one of the more closely watched new Christian movements in Nigeria, particularly because Dikeh already has a large public following. Her celebrity background gives the ministry something many new fellowships spend years trying to build: immediate visibility.
But it also creates a challenge. Dikeh’s past will inevitably remain part of the conversation. Some people will see her journey as evidence that personal transformation is possible, while others will question whether a celebrity who has only recently become deeply involved in ministry should take on such a public spiritual leadership role.
Interestingly, Dikeh’s own description of NWPT appears designed to distinguish it from a conventional church. She says it is “not a church”, but an intense gathering of consecrated believers focused on prayer, revival and apostolic training. Its mission includes activating spiritual gifts, soul winning and what it describes as delivering freedom to those held captive through the Holy Spirit.
The coming months will therefore be more important than the launch itself. The real test will be whether NWPT develops into a serious, sustainable ministry with a clear spiritual and organizational structure, rather than becoming another celebrity-led project that attracts attention briefly.
For Dikeh, however, the message is clear: her public story is no longer just about Nollywood. She is now trying to turn her own faith journey into a movement for others.
