The Sheggz and Bella Okagbue relationship has officially come to an end, but the bigger surprise is that the breakup happened months before many fans realised it.
Former Big Brother Naija stars Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo and Bella Okagbue, who began their relationship during the 2022 Level Up season, had reportedly been separated since January 2026. Sheggz confirmed the split in a lengthy statement on Wednesday while strongly denying allegations that he cheated on Bella.
The Breakup Happened Months Ago
Sheggz said he had avoided discussing his private life publicly because of his respect for his family. However, he decided to speak after rumours surrounding the relationship began affecting his reputation.
“For clarity, I did not cheat on Bella and I have been single since January 2026,” he said.
According to him, the relationship ended in January, although the pair made attempts to reconcile afterwards. He said those attempts eventually failed because of issues surrounding trust and respect.
This means that while fans were still trying to understand what was happening between the pair, the relationship had already ended behind the scenes.
Sheggz Says 2025 Was a Difficult Year
The reality star also revealed that he experienced serious health challenges throughout 2025 and spent a significant amount of time in and out of hospital.
He said he later travelled to England for treatment and returned to Nigeria in October 2025. After returning, he said he became aware of information that made him question the honesty within his relationship.
Sheggz said he had given opportunities for issues to be addressed but eventually concluded that there were problems he could not overlook if the relationship was supposed to lead to marriage.
He also revealed that he had bought an engagement ring because he genuinely believed they would eventually get married.
From BBNaija Romance to Public Breakup
Sheggz and Bella became one of the most popular couples to emerge from the BBNaija house. Their relationship continued for several years after leaving the show, while fans closely followed their lives and supported them as a couple.
That level of public attention also made the eventual breakup difficult to keep private.
Earlier this year, fans noticed that the pair had unfollowed each other and removed some joint content from their social media accounts, leading to widespread speculation that their relationship had ended.
Sheggz’s statement has now confirmed what many fans had already suspected.
Why the Confirmation Matters
The Sheggz and Bella story shows just how difficult it can be for reality TV relationships to escape public ownership.
Fans watched their romance begin on television and continued investing emotionally in the relationship long after the show ended. Every deleted picture, unfollow and social media post became evidence for another theory.
But the reality was apparently much simpler. The relationship had already ended, while the public was still trying to figure out whether something was wrong.
Sheggz ended his statement by wishing Bella well and making it clear that he does not want the breakup to turn into a public war of accusations. For now, Bella has not publicly responded to his latest statement.
