Shakira and Burna Boy’s ‘Dai Dai’ Reaches New Streaming High After World Cup Final

Shakira and Burna Boy’s FIFA World Cup anthem “Dai Dai” has reached new streaming milestones following the 2026 World Cup final, cementing its place as one of the biggest global hits of the year.

The song recorded its biggest single day on Spotify Global with 6.723 million streams, extending its impressive run at No. 1 on the platform’s global rankings for a 15th non-consecutive week. The anthem also became the first song by an African artist to debut at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Music Video Chart, with Burna Boy making history as the first male artist to achieve the feat.

Beyond Spotify, “Dai Dai” has now surpassed 500 million YouTube views in less than two months, while continuing to dominate multiple international charts. The track has topped the Billboard Global 200, Billboard Global Excl. U.S., and several national charts since its release as the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The song received another boost after Burna Boy and Shakira performed it during the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show, introducing the anthem to millions of viewers worldwide. Their performance has been widely credited with driving another wave of streams across digital platforms.

Burna Boy also continues to strengthen his global profile, remaining the most-streamed African artist on Spotify with over 55 million monthly listeners, while the success of “Dai Dai” has pushed him to the top of several international music charts.

Beyond the halftime performance, music analysts say the success of “Dai Dai” comes from a combination of factors. The song brought together Shakira’s massive Latin pop audience and Burna Boy’s global Afrobeats fanbase, while FIFA’s worldwide promotion ensured it reached audiences across every continent.

The anthem also benefited from heavy playlist placements on Spotify and Apple Music, strong radio support, viral clips on TikTok and Instagram, and repeated exposure throughout the month-long World Cup. By the time the final arrived, “Dai Dai” had already become one of the tournament’s defining songs, with the halftime performance simply giving it another major boost.

Despite the commercial success, the anthem has sparked some debate. Nigerian commentator Daniel Regha argued that a World Cup song featuring Burna Boy could have incorporated indigenous Nigerian languages such as Yoruba or Igbo to better showcase the country’s cultural diversity. Still, fans continue to celebrate the collaboration as one of the most successful World Cup songs ever released.
