Russia has rejected a new peace initiative proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to reports from officials close to the talks. The efforts to restart diplomatic talks between the two countries have stalled again, and the war seems to be moving without a clear path to resolution.

Zelenskyy had recently renewed calls for direct talks aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, urging international partners to support a diplomatic solution. His proposal was presented as part of broader efforts to reduce fighting and create conditions for a possible ceasefire. But the Russian officials have rejected this idea and instead, say that the current conditions don’t support negotiations in the form that Ukraine has suggested.

The rejection highlights the deep divide between both sides, as they have refused to agree on issues like territorial control, security guarantees, and political demands. Despite all the attempts at international mediation since the war began, there has been no lasting agreement.

The European Union is now considering placing more sanctions on Russia because of the lack of progress in peace efforts and the continued conflict. EU leaders are also using economic pressure to influence the situation and push for negotiations.

Meanwhile, fighting on the ground is still ongoing, and both sides are continuing their military operations across different regions. Due to this, international organizations have given warnings on continued displacement and civilian hardship.
