Manchester United are reportedly prepared to sell academy left-back Harry Amass on a permanent transfer this summer, with the club valuing the highly rated youngster at around £6 million. Several Championship clubs have already made approaches, and United are understood to favour a straight sale rather than another loan move.
The 19-year-old has impressed during pre-season after recovering from injury and was viewed as a promising option at left-back, having previously provided cover for Luke Shaw. However, with Patrick Dorgu, Shaw and Noussair Mazraoui ahead of him in the pecking order—and Manchester United still monitoring Newcastle’s Lewis Hall—the club appears willing to cash in.
The reported asking price has sparked criticism among supporters, many of whom believe Amass is worth significantly more. Fans have pointed to the sale of Álvaro Fernández, who left United for a similar fee before eventually earning a high-value move elsewhere, as a warning against undervaluing academy talent.
While discussions are ongoing and no agreement has yet been reached, United’s preference for a permanent transfer suggests they are looking to raise funds as they continue reshaping Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of the new season.
