British singer Jorja Smith and Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid have reunited for their highly anticipated new collaboration, Alive, a soulful love anthem that has quickly become one of the biggest music releases of the week.
The song, released on July 2, serves as the latest single from Smith’s upcoming third studio album, What Are The Odds, due for release on August 21. Produced by longtime collaborator P2J, Alive blends smooth R&B melodies with Afrobeats influences, capturing the excitement and vulnerability of falling in love. The release follows Smith’s May single What’s Done Is Done and offers another glimpse into an album inspired by UK garage, grime, soulful house and Afro House.
Excitement around the collaboration began days earlier when fans spotted Smith and Wizkid together on a balcony in Paris during Fashion Week. Speculation intensified after Smith teased the record on social media before officially unveiling both the song and its Paris-shot music video.
Directed by Gabriel Trautmann, the visuals transform the French capital into the backdrop for a romantic summer night, with the pair strolling through Paris streets before reuniting on a balcony overlooking the city.
Smith described working with Wizkid as a special experience, praising the Grammy-winning star for helping take Afrobeats to audiences around the world. The duo previously collaborated on the 2020 fan-favorite Come Over.
Early reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with many fans praising Wizkid’s melodic performance and calling the track an instant playlist favorite for the summer.
The release also kicks off a busy period for Wizkid, who is expected to follow Alive with another collaboration, Coca Body, featuring Dutch rapper Frenna and Nigerian singer Odeal. With both artists entering major new chapters in their careers, Alive is already shaping up to be one of the standout international collaborations of 2026.
