Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has reaffirmed his support for Peter Obi after days of controversy sparked by a viral video showing him praying with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu. The video prompted criticism from some members of the Obidient movement, who questioned Fayose’s political loyalty ahead of the 2027 general election.
The backlash intensified after Fayose released another video expressing disappointment that Peter Obi had never personally acknowledged the financial and logistical support he claimed to have provided during the 2023 presidential campaign.
He said he spent heavily on Obi’s campaign, made his hotel available to supporters, and even participated in protests, but felt unappreciated. The comments led to speculation that he could withdraw his backing for Obi.
However, Fayose later softened his stance after receiving visits from Obidient supporters and speaking directly with Obi. He subsequently declared that his support for the former Anambra governor remained intact, insisting that political differences should not destroy personal relationships.
Sharing details of his meeting with Seyi Tinubu, Fayose maintained that he could respect members of the ruling APC while still campaigning for Obi in 2027. He described himself as “100% Obidient” and urged Nigerians to embrace politics without hatred.
