Delta Police Arrest Content Creator Over Alleged Rape, Death of 20-Year-Old Student

The Delta State Police Command has arrested Asaba-based content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” over the alleged rape of 20-year-old Favour Agbro, who later died after ingesting a poisonous substance.

Police said the arrest followed a petition alleging that the suspect lured the victim to Asaba on June 1, 2026, with a promise to train her in content creation and help her monetize her social media platforms.

According to police, Ogbonna allegedly took Favour to a hotel upon her arrival, where he raped and physically assaulted her. The young woman later returned home traumatised and informed her family about the incident.

Before her death, she recorded an emotional video recounting her ordeal and accusing the suspect of destroying her life. She later took a toxic substance and died despite efforts to save her. Police say investigations are ongoing, and the suspect has made statements while in custody.

A separate video circulating online shows Ogbonna kneeling and apologising to the victim’s family, saying:

“I am sorry. This is a very terrible mistake. I am ready to give everything.”

The Delta State Police Commissioner has assured the public that a thorough investigation will be carried out and that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
