Former Big Brother Naija housemate Angel Smith has publicly condemned celebrity designer Luminee for welcoming a child with Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha, who was convicted of child sexual assault.
The controversy erupted after Baba Ijesha announced the birth of his baby boy with his partner, fashion entrepreneur Abiodun Tokunbo (Luminee), on June 15, 2026. The actor, who was released from prison in November 2025 after serving time for sexual assault, expressed gratitude on social media, calling his son “King Kagar” and describing Luminee as “my ever-beautiful wife.”
Luminee confirmed the news too, writing, “Our little miracle is finally here!” and describing Baba Ijesha as “one in a million” with a “pure heart.”
However, Angel Smith reacted with shock, commenting on Luminee’s post: “Ew” before launching into a sharp critique.
She wrote: “How can you, as a woman, have a baby with this person, knowing his crime. You had a child with someone who committed such a visceral crime against another child.” Then, she added a prayer in Igbo: “Ka chineke chebe anyi ka ekwensu ghara iduba anyi n’olulu, ha.” (May God protect us so the devil does not lead us into shame)
Baba Ijesha was convicted in 2022 for sexually assaulting comedian Princess’s 14-year-old ward. While he was released in November 2025, the Lagos State Government has clarified that he completed his jail term and was not acquitted. The Court of Appeal upheld his conviction for the 2021 offences, though it set aside charges from 2013-2014.
The couple’s relationship was not public before the birth announcement, and many users online are questioning the timeline. Actress Nkechi Blessing also expressed public surprise at the news.
