Popular Nigerian dancer and hypeman Poco Lee, whose real name is Iweh Pascal Odinaka, is facing criminal proceedings in the United Kingdom after being charged with five sexual offences.

The case has attracted widespread attention in Nigeria, but several details circulating online have not been confirmed by the court. Here is what is currently known about the Poco Lee UK case.

What Charges Is Poco Lee Facing?

According to Snaresbrook Crown Court in London, Poco Lee has been charged with attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. The court has also placed a reporting restriction on the case to protect the complainant’s identity.

It is important to stress that these are allegations. Poco Lee has not been convicted, and the case is still before the court.

How Did the Poco Lee Arrest Become Public?

Reports of the Poco Lee arrest emerged around August 19, several days after he travelled to Britain for the Davido and Friends event at Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14.

The reports initially contained limited information about why he was being held. Benjamin Kuti, founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, later said Poco Lee was being held on remand while awaiting court proceedings. The UK court subsequently confirmed that a hearing had been scheduled.

What Has Poco Lee’s Management Said?

Poco Lee’s management and legal team have confirmed that the matter is before a UK court and have urged the public not to treat allegations as established facts.

They have also specifically challenged claims about drink spiking, saying that this does not form part of the charges currently before the court. The team warned that adding unverified details to the story could create misinformation and unfairly influence public opinion.

A separate allegation made online by a Texas-based Nigerian rapper, Ms Jorji, has also circulated. She alleged that Poco Lee attempted to sexually assault her and her girlfriend around two years ago in Dallas. However, there is currently no established connection between those claims and the UK court case.

When Is Poco Lee Going Back to Court?

The next major development is expected on September 15, 2026, when Poco Lee is scheduled to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court for plea and trial preparation.

The hearing should provide more information about how the case will proceed. Until then, the most important distinction is between confirmed court information and claims circulating on social media. Poco Lee remains legally innocent unless and until a court determines otherwise.
