Freshly circulated leaked audio involving Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Godswill Akpabio has added another layer to the long-running dispute between the Kogi Central senator and the Senate President. The recordings, released by activist Sandra Duru, have triggered a new wave of political reactions, but their authenticity and full context remain unverified.
The development is significant not only because of what the recordings allegedly contain, but because of how the latest claims differ from accusations Duru made publicly in 2025.
What the New Leaked Audio Allegedly Shows
Duru, also known as Prof Mgbeke, released an approximately nine-minute recording on September 18, 2026, which she presented as a conversation involving herself and a male voice she identified as Akpabio. She alleged that the Senate President had engaged her to mount a campaign against Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Another purported recording linked to Akpoti-Uduaghan has also circulated, with reports describing the senator as directing a media contact to push allegations against Akpabio. The competing recordings have become part of a wider online argument about political influence, private conversations and how information is used during political disputes.
However, there is an important caveat. No independent forensic examination has established the identity of the voices, whether the recordings were edited, when the conversations occurred or whether the released clips provide the complete context. Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan had not publicly confirmed the recordings as authentic in the latest reports reviewed.
Why This Is a Major Twist in the Dispute
The latest Akpabio Natasha leaked audio is particularly notable because it appears to contradict Duru’s earlier public allegations.
In May 2025, Duru accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of offering her ₦200 million to make false allegations against Akpabio. The senator denied the accusation and later petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over what her representatives described as a coordinated campaign against her.
Duru’s new claim presents a different account of her relationship with Akpabio. That reversal is now attracting attention because recordings have been central to the wider controversy, with previous materials also facing competing allegations of manipulation and fabrication.
The Bigger Issue Is Verification
The immediate question surrounding the Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan leaked audio is therefore not simply what the voices appear to say. It is whether the recordings can be independently authenticated.
That matters because an audio recording can provide important evidence only when its source, integrity, speakers and context can be established. Without those checks, statements circulating online remain allegations rather than established facts.
The dispute has already reached the courts. In January 2026, an FCT High Court reportedly restrained Duru and Meta from further circulating material alleged to be defamatory against Akpoti-Uduaghan pending determination of the substantive case.
For now, the new recordings have widened the political controversy rather than settled it. Further responses from the people involved, forensic examination or court proceedings could determine whether the claims develop into a formal investigation or remain another chapter in an increasingly public political feud.
