The LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, has discharged 31 of the rescued Oriire school pupils after certifying them medically fit, marking another milestone in the recovery of victims abducted from schools in Oyo State. The children have since been reunited with their families following comprehensive medical assessments.
The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Professor Olawale Olakulehin, disclosed that eight rescued victims will remain admitted for continued medical treatment and psychological evaluation.
Among them is a child diagnosed with a previously undetected congenital heart defect (a hole in the heart) during routine post-rescue examinations. The hospital said the child is stable and responding well to treatment, while arrangements are being made with the Oyo State Government for specialized care.
Professor Olakulehin said the remaining patients are receiving multidisciplinary care, including treatment for physical conditions and trauma-related psychological support. He assured parents that the welfare of all rescued pupils remains the hospital’s top priority and that they will only be discharged after being fully certified fit.
