Argentina Star Who Eliminated Switzerland In World Cup Quarterfinals Set For Arsenal Offer

Argentina beat ten-man Switzerland 2-1 in the early hours of Sunday in Kansas City to reach the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The South American giants will face England on Wednesday in the second semifinals game.

The contest seemed set for penalty shootout before Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez curled an unstoppable 25-yard shot past Swiss keeper Gregor Kobel.

Switzerland were reduced to ten men after Breel Embolo was controversially yellow-carded for the second time for simulation which culminated in a sending off after a VAR check.

The match winner Alvarez may still be in the United States on international duty but interest in his services are hotting up with Arsenal reportedly preparing an offer for the former Manchester City star.

Arsenal are hoping to defend their Premier League title they won last season after three consecutive second placed finishes and an astonishing 22-year-old wait for the domestic title.

France goalkeeper Illian Meslier is the only confirmed signing so far for the Gunners but the club’s recruitment team will be in full gear ahead of the team’s pre season campaign.
