Jay-Z kicked off his three-night Yankee Stadium residency in spectacular fashion by bringing out Beyoncé and their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, for surprise performances during the opening night of his anniversary concert series.
The show celebrated the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, Jay-Z’s landmark debut album. Beyoncé thrilled the sold-out crowd by joining her husband on stage for a performance of “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” stepping into the role originally performed by Mary J. Blige. As the performance ended, Jay-Z praised his wife, while Beyoncé encouraged fans to cheer for him, drawing deafening applause from the audience.
The surprises didn’t end there. Fourteen-year-old Blue Ivy Carter also made an appearance, playing the piano during “Feelin’ It.” Jay-Z embraced his daughter on stage and introduced her as “legendary,” earning one of the night’s loudest ovations. The concert also featured appearances from hip-hop heavyweights including Nas, Alicia Keys, and Jaz-O, turning the event into a celebration of New York rap history.
The residency marks Jay-Z’s first major New York concert series in years and continues throughout the weekend, with each night celebrating one of his classic albums. While some resale platforms showed unsold upper-level seats before the event, videos from inside the stadium captured a vibrant atmosphere, packed stands and roaring reactions to the night’s surprise guests.
