Manchester United have officially completed the signing of highly rated Welsh goalkeeper Kit Margetson from Swansea City, continuing the club’s investment in young British talent ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 19-year-old Wales Under-21 international joins the Red Devils after the expiry of his Swansea contract, with both clubs agreeing a compensation package, avoiding the need for a tribunal. Margetson has signed for United’s academy setup and is regarded as one of the country’s brightest young goalkeeping prospects.
Margetson arrives after an impressive loan spell with Connah’s Quay Nomads, where he gained valuable senior experience. He made 34 appearances, kept 10 clean sheets, and helped the Welsh club secure qualification for European football. His performances also earned him his Wales Under-21 debut earlier this year.
The move strengthens Manchester United’s long-term goalkeeping department. While André Onana, Altay Bayındır and veteran Tom Heaton remain the senior options, the club sees Margetson as a player with significant potential who can develop through the academy before challenging for first-team opportunities in the future.
