Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukrainian forces have carried out a fresh wave of long-range drone and missile strikes targeting key Russian military and energy infrastructure, including a weapons manufacturing plant, an oil refinery and a naval warship.
In his latest address on Friday, July 25, Zelensky said the operations successfully struck a military-industrial facility in Russia’s Kirov region, which Ukraine claims is involved in producing equipment used by the Russian armed forces. He also said Ukrainian forces hit an oil refinery that supports Russia’s fuel supply chain and targeted a Russian warship operating in the Caspian Sea.
The strikes form part of Ukraine’s strategy of using long-range drones and domestically produced missiles to disrupt Russia’s military logistics and reduce its ability to sustain the war. Kyiv has increasingly expanded attacks deep inside Russian territory, focusing on oil infrastructure, weapons factories and transport hubs it says are supporting Moscow’s invasion.
Russian authorities acknowledged attacks in several regions but have not fully confirmed the extent of the reported damage to all of the sites mentioned by Zelensky. Independent verification of battlefield claims from either side remains difficult because of the ongoing conflict and restrictions on access to affected areas.
The latest strikes come amid intensified fighting between the two countries, with both sides exchanging large-scale drone and missile attacks in recent weeks. While Ukraine continues targeting strategic military and energy facilities inside Russia, Moscow has stepped up aerial bombardments on Ukrainian cities, causing civilian casualties and widespread infrastructure damage.
Military analysts say the attacks demonstrate Ukraine’s growing long-range strike capability and its determination to take the war beyond the front lines. However, they also warn that such operations could trigger further retaliatory attacks as the conflict shows little sign of easing.
