A distraught Nigerian mother has made a public appeal for justice, tearfully alleging that her estranged husband sexually molested their five-year-old daughter and is now using his influence to gain custody of the children. The allegations, which surfaced in a video shared online on July 6, have sparked a fierce debate on social media between calls for justice and skepticism over the unverified claims.

In the widely circulated clip, the unidentified woman, who fears for her children’s safety, claims that the child has consistently identified her father as the perpetrator in separate interviews with the police, medical staff, and child protection officials. “The person who molested my 5-year-old daughter is her father,” she states, alleging that multiple medical reports corroborate the abuse, though details of these reports have not been released to the public .

The mother further alleges that the suspect, who denies the allegations and is reportedly pursuing custody possibly in Lagos, is using his wealth and status to obstruct the judicial process. She claims authorities pressured her to settle the case out of court, an action which would be illegal under Nigerian law for such serious felonies . “I ran to the police. I’ve run to the court. The court is saying I should go and settle out of court,” she pleaded in her appeal .

While the mother’s emotional plea has garnered widespread sympathy and outrage, public responses remain divided. Some social media users demand immediate intervention from child rights groups and top judicial authorities, while others urge caution, citing the potential for false accusations and the lack of official police or court updates as of July 7 . The case appears to involve a child protection investigation, and authorities have not yet issued a formal statement on the matter.
