French-Congolese rapper and singer Tiakola is set to release his second solo album, WpointM, at midnight on Friday, September 25, 2026, with Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema expected to appear on one of the project’s most anticipated tracks, “Best.”
The 17-track WpointM album marks Tiakola’s return to a solo studio album four years after Mélo. The title comes from his real name, William Mundala, making the project a more personal statement about his identity and roots.
Why WpointM Is More Than a French Rap Album
The Tiakola WpointM album appears designed to connect several parts of the artist’s identity. Tiakola grew up in France with Congolese roots, and the rollout has increasingly placed that heritage at the centre of the project.
His recent single “Caméléon” was accompanied by a video filmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, connecting his French career with his African background. The album itself also carries that theme through its title and visual campaign.
That makes WpointM particularly interesting as Tiakola looks beyond the French-speaking market. He has also announced an eight-date African tour beginning in Casablanca in December and reaching cities including Kinshasa, Abidjan, Libreville, Yaoundé and Cotonou.
Rema Collaboration Adds Afrobeats Connection
The biggest talking point for Nigerian listeners is Rema’s reported collaboration with Tiakola on “Best,” the seventh track on WpointM.
The tracklist released earlier this month showed six collaborations without immediately revealing all the artists involved. “Best” was listed as track seven, while Tiakola’s rollout used teasers to build curiosity around the hidden features.
If Rema’s appearance is confirmed on the final release, the collaboration could give Tiakola another direct connection to the rapidly expanding Afrobeats audience while bringing two artists from different African music markets together.
Tiakola Has Already Started the Rollout
The wait for WpointM has not been quiet. “Savage” and “Mélo Décalé” were released ahead of the album, with “Mélo Décalé” earning a gold single certification in France.
On September 24, Tiakola also released a surprise six-track project titled WpointM – 93120, describing it as a preface to the main album. It includes tracks such as “Upa Solide” and “Winter Melo Music” featuring Leto.
Now, with WpointM arriving on September 25, the focus shifts from the mystery surrounding the project to how Tiakola’s mix of French rap, Congolese influences and African pop travels with listeners.
