Real Madrid are on the verge of completing one of the biggest transfers of the summer after reaching an agreement to sign highly rated winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal worth more than €100 million. The 19-year-old is expected to travel to Spain for a medical before signing a contract until 2031.
Diomande’s move caps off a dramatic transfer race involving Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool. Liverpool had previously explored a deal for the Ivory Coast international, while PSG had agreed personal terms with the player earlier in the summer. However, Real Madrid’s late push proved decisive, with the Spanish giants convincing both the player and Leipzig to move closer to an agreement.
The teenager, who came through Yulee High School and DME Academy before beginning his professional career in Europe, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Leipzig and enhanced his reputation during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Madrid view him as a long-term addition capable of providing balance on the right wing alongside stars Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé under manager José Mourinho.
Attention is now shifting to another ambitious target. Real Madrid remain interested in Manchester City midfielder Rodri, with reports suggesting the Spain international has already agreed personal terms on a potential move and is pushing for a transfer. However, negotiations with City have yet to begin formally.
The Rodri pursuit has also taken another twist. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, sources within football believe PSG’s recent interest in Rodri may be partly driven by frustration after losing the race for Diomande, with the French champions attempting to complicate Madrid’s plans in the market. PSG have denied any suggestion of acting out of revenge, but the transfer battle has added another layer of intrigue to one of the summer’s biggest sagas.
With Diomande’s arrival seemingly imminent and Rodri still firmly on the club’s shortlist, Real Madrid’s transfer window shows no sign of slowing down.
