Thai authorities have intensified their investigation into the deadly fire at a popular bar and nightclub in Bangkok, where the confirmed death toll has risen to 30, making it the city’s deadliest entertainment venue fire in nearly two decades. At least 24 people remain in critical condition, while dozens of others are still receiving treatment in hospital.
Investigators say serious safety negligence is now the primary focus of the inquiry. Survivors and first responders reported that some emergency exits were locked, obstructed or difficult to access, while parts of the venue allegedly lacked clearly marked emergency exit signage.
Authorities are also examining whether flammable ceiling materials, faulty electrical systems and inadequate fire safety measures contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has ordered a citywide review of entertainment venues and promised stricter enforcement of fire safety regulations. Police have interviewed dozens of witnesses and say criminal charges could follow if negligence is established. The nightclub has publicly apologized and pledged to cooperate fully with investigators.
