The international music community has been left in shock after American singer and internet personality Oliver Tree was killed in a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 32-year-old musician was among six people who died after two helicopters collided mid-air, causing both aircraft to crash.
The crash occurred in the western part of Rio de Janeiro on June 14, with one of the helicopters reportedly crashing into a car dealership area and sparking a fire. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but authorities confirmed there were no survivors. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collision.
Oliver Tree, whose real name was Oliver Tree Nickell, was known for his unique style, unusual visual identity, and viral approach to music. He gained global recognition through songs including “Life Goes On,” “Miss You,” and “Alien Boy,” building a large international fanbase through his blend of alternative pop, electronic sounds, and creative storytelling.
Tree was in Brazil as part of a major world tour and had recently performed in South Africa before the tragedy. Other victims included Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim, also known online as Gaspi, along with passengers and pilots on the aircraft.
