May Yul-Edochie has escalated her legal battle over alleged online harassment, filing a ₦1.5 billion lawsuit at the Lagos High Court against her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, social media personality Yinka Omolola Theisen and several unidentified online account operators over alleged cyberbullying, defamation and privacy breaches.
According to court filings, May alleges she has been subjected to a coordinated online campaign involving defamatory posts, manipulated and AI-generated images, leaked personal information and sustained cyberbullying following the public breakdown of her marriage to Nollywood actor Yul Edochie. She is asking the court to compel the removal of the disputed content, identify anonymous account operators and award ₦1 billion in damages against Ugwuonye and ₦500 million against Theisen.
Adding another twist to the long-running family saga, May’s former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, publicly defended actress Judy Austin, Yul Edochie’s second wife. Ugwuonye argued that Judy could not be blamed for destroying the marriage because, in his view, the relationship between May and Yul had already broken down before Judy entered the picture. His comments have reignited debate among fans, with many disagreeing with his position while others argued that only those directly involved know what truly happened behind closed doors.
The latest developments have generated widespread reactions on social media, where the Edochie family drama has remained one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity stories since Yul Edochie publicly announced his relationship with Judy Austin in 2022. As the legal proceedings move forward, attention is expected to shift from social media to the courtroom, where the allegations of cyberbullying, defamation and breach of confidentiality will be tested.
