Burna Boy, Shakira Complete Rehearsals for Historic World Cup Halftime Show

Nigerian Afrofusion superstar Burna Boy and Colombian pop icon Shakira have completed rehearsals ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, with behind-the-scenes clips of the pair embracing and laughing together going viral across social media. The duo will headline the tournament’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime performance at MetLife Stadium before Sunday’s final between Spain and Argentina.

The pair will perform “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which has become one of the tournament’s biggest musical successes. The song has topped global charts, amassed more than one billion streams worldwide, and cemented Burna Boy’s growing influence on the international stage alongside one of football’s most recognisable musical figures.

The halftime show, curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in partnership with FIFA and Global Citizen, will feature an 11-minute musical performance with appearances from artists including Justin Bieber, Madonna, BTS, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and other global acts.

FIFA says the event aims to combine football and entertainment while supporting its Global Citizen Education Fund. Sunday’s final is expected to attract one of the largest television audiences in sporting history.
