The Yobe State Government has approved the release of ₦460.83 million to support 1,780 women entrepreneurs through a grassroots empowerment program aimed at strengthening small businesses and improving livelihoods across the state. The approval was granted during the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu.

According to the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, each beneficiary will receive a 50-kilogram bag of beans alongside cooking oil, smokeless stoves, cooking utensils and other kitchen equipment that have already been procured through the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation. The initiative is designed to support women engaged in petty trading and food businesses, helping them expand their operations and increase household incomes.

The Executive Council also approved ₦364.48 million for the purchase of 1,000 Yamaha GX 390 grinding machines, which will be distributed to residents to encourage self-employment and create additional income-generating opportunities. The approvals form part of a broader ₦73.32 billion package covering agriculture, infrastructure, markets and housing projects across the state.
