The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) awarded the certification on July 10, 2026, more than a decade after the song’s release on Wizkid’s 2014 album Ayo. The Silver certification recognizes the song’s enduring popularity in the UK, where it has continued to attract streams and sales years after its debut.
Produced by Legendury Beatz, “Ojuelegba” tells the story of Wizkid’s early struggles and dreams while growing up in the Lagos suburb of the same name. The deeply personal track resonated with listeners worldwide, winning Song of the Year at The Headies and becoming a defining moment in the global rise of Afrobeats. Its influence expanded even further in 2015 when Drake and Skepta joined Wizkid for the official remix, introducing the song to an even broader international audience.
