England survived an almighty scare Wednesday night as they came from a goal down to beat DR Congo 2-1 in their round of 32 fixture.
The African side, formerly known as Zaire and making a comeback to the tournament since 1974, took the lead through Brian Cipenga.
England however restored parity through Harry Kane in the 75th minute whose lovely finish showed why he remains one of the world’s best marksmen.
The Bayern Munich star then completed the turnaround in added time when he struck the ball with aplomb after evading the challenges of three defenders.
England will face Mexico in the round of 16 1am local time on Monday morning.
